COMPLETE BIO
John Baldino is a Secular Franciscan and an accomplished, innovative educator. He is a tenured Assistant Professor in Philosophy and Religious Studies at Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he teaches and develops on-ground, online, and hybrid courses in philosophy, religious studies, and communications. He instructs traditional college students, adult learners, and dual-enrollment high school students.
In addition to teaching, John is director of Lackawanna College’s Center for Teaching and Learning. The CTL offers professional development, training, and support to full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, and specialty program staff. John is also a Lecturer in Theology at Marywood University in Scranton. There he teaches in-person and online courses in theological and religious studies.
John has two decades of experience in media production and marketing, specializing in digital strategies for small and medium-size businesses. A digital lifestyle and strategy expert, John has worked with 50+ television stations and other local media companies in more than 30 metropolitan areas nationwide creating, distributing, and monetizing digital content.
A professional writer, John has work frequently published Catholic Insight Magazine, Charity in Truth (a peer-reviewed scholarly journal), Catholic 365. He is also an award-winning marketing strategist and television host and producer. John has delivered more than 500 speeches and presentations in 17 states and the District of Columbia. He has worked in high-level positions at top-tier and regional media companies including the New York Times Broadcast Media Group, Nexstar Media Group, and the Wilkes-Barre Publishing Company where he was the youngest vice president in the company’s history.
John is a graduate of Marywood University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a concentration in Digital Media and Broadcast Production. He did graduate studies at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and Excelsior University in Albany, New York, and holds a Master of Arts, Liberal Studies. John earned a Graduate Certificate in Catholic Theology and Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology at St. Joseph’s College of Maine. He also holds a certificate in higher education teaching from the extension school at Harvard University. John is currently working on a Doctorate of Theological Studies at Pontifex University in Atlanta, Georgia. His research focuses on educational theology and generational catechesis.
A native of Carbondale, Pennsylvania, John lives in in a suburb of Scranton with his dogs Hubert and Milton. He spends his free time reading, writing, traveling, retrofitting antique technology, terrorizing his nieces and nephews, and binge-watching Star Trek reruns.
